Life Speaks of Texas
Pastels by Julie Howard
Using vibrant, colorful pastels to create realistic paintings of Texas and other subjects, Julie Howard will exhibit Life Speaks of Texas in the Saulsbury Gallery. Growing up in Houston, Howard displayed an early talent for drawing and painting. She studied art privately in her teen years before enrolling in art classes at the University of Houston. In graduate school, she studied animated art while working in the graphics and film industries. Howard has received many awards and features in magazines, including the 2016 Best of Show at Milan Gallery in Ft. Worth and four International Recognition Awards of Excellence in Photorealism in 2016.
On Saturday, February 11 at 9am to noon, Julie Howard shares her love of color and knowledge of pastels in the Let There Be Color pastels workshop. Bring your set of pastels, bump sticks, and kneaded erasers and learn the theories of color and composition to create focus areas and harmony in your paintings. Cost is $60 for ages 14 and up and includes supplies other than pastels.
