The artist, Ludmila Pawlowska, will join us for a gallery talk and Dr. Wynona Alexander, professor Emeritus of Fine Arts of Central Texas College, will be our guest speaker for the evening.

Temple Live Poets and “Historic and Contemporary Practices in Christian Art”
A combined talk by Tyler Fletcher and Hershall Seals 7pmTyler Fletcher will discuss the historic development and function of icons. Hershall Seals will present examples and discuss contemporary Christian art.
Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16 (times vary)
Iconography Adult Class (for ages 13 and up):
In this six-hour class, instructor accomplished icon painter Michelle M. Mears will assist participants in creating an icon, following the traditional, time-honored methods of Greek and Russian Orthodox iconographers. Each participant will select their design and then be guided through the steps of creating the icon in a quiet, peaceful, meditative environment. Incense will be burning in the classroom. The class is divided into two 3-hour sessions and will meet Saturday, Nov 15, 2:00-5:00 and Sunday, Nov 16, 2:00- 5:00 in the CAC art classroom. Class size is limited to 12 people. Some prior painting experience would be helpful.
Cost per participant is $35.00
Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 - 4:00-6:00PM both days
Mosaic Icon Class
This will be a very simple design for any level of expertise. Marilyn Ritchie will i
nstruct. The media being used will be glass and clay tiles. $35/ person for both days.
Saturday, December 6th 10am to 1pm & Sunday, Dec. 7th 2 to 5pm
Raku Cross & Christmon Class
Marilyn Ritchie will instruct a class in making and firing crosses and ornaments $35/ per for two days
Saturday, December 13
Iconography Children’s Class (for ages 8 and up):
In this two-hour class, instructor Michelle M. Mears will assist participants in creating an icon of Jesus Christ, made of construction paper. The paper will be applied in layers from dark to light, to illustrate for the children the traditional dark-to-light method used for centuries by iconographers painting their icons. Participants should be able to use pointed scissors and glue. Parents are welcome. The class will meet on Saturday Dec 13, 2:00-4:00 in the CAC art classroom. Class size is limited to 10 people.
Cost per participant is $15.00.

If you would be interested in becoming a docent, we will have docent training on Thurs. Nov. 6 at 10am and/or Friday,Nov. 7, 2014 at 7pm. You will learn about Icons and be able to study the information given before the training session.
